All crafting systems in Aion are basically the same, but make different things with different materials. They are:
Armorsmithing - makes chain/plate; armors uses metals
Weaponsmithing - melee weapons; uses metals
Tailoring - makes cloth and leather armor; uses fibrous plants/leather
Handicrafting - makes bows, staves, and jewelry; uses wood/precious metals/gems
Cooking - cooks food; uses raw food
Alchemy - makes potions; uses plants
Crafting is aion kina is actually a lot more interesting than in most games. When crafting, you get a double-barred window that pops up with 2 bars on it. The top bar shows a blue bar, and the bottom a purple bar. Depending on your skill level relative to the skill required to make the item, the blue or purple bar will go up. This is done with the game rolling a dice to see which will move, the blue or purple. If your skill is much higher than required, the blue bar will take giant leaps while the purple bar will take little baby steps towards the end. If your skill is the minimum required, they will move about the same rate depending on which one the dice lands on. If the blue bar reaches the end first, your little race is over and your item is successfully crafted. If the purple bar wins, you lose the two-bar-race, your items are destroyed, and you get nothing.
There are times, however, when something special can happen during crafting. Occasionally you will get little bursts of luck put into your blue bar. These can range from an extra increase of regular size, to an entire blue bar filled instantly. Luckily this can't happen with the purple bar, so you cant suddenly fail an item, instead of you have to watch in terror as it works its way in front of the pass bar and fails your crafting. There are also special items that can be created when crafting. For example, say you are cooking some salted trout. When you press the craft button, you can sometimes get a new item started. Now instead of just Cooked Salted Trout, youre making Delicious Cooked Salted Trout. Obviously delicious food is better than regular food! This can also happen with weapons, armor, rings, etc, except instead of becoming something extra tasty they become an item with enhanced properties.
If you start crafting, you cant cancel it. You can stop after the current item is finished, but you cannot cancel it in any way. Once you start making something, your items are on the line, so don't think you can just run away if the purple bar is kicking your ass in the race to the finish.
